Dougherty Valley CA freshman Shane Badcock won the ninth-grade 2-mile race in 11:42.5 at the 36th Monte Vista Invitational at Oak Hill Park in Danville, Calif. Badcock elevated to the No. 5 freshman performer in meet history, in addition to running the 17th-fastest time overall at the meet, regardless of grade. Badcock was one of eight Dougherty Valley athletes to place in the overall top 20, helping the Wildcats prevail as the top team, based on their top five scorers regardless of grade, with 49 points.
